Three ways stress is connected to weight gain:

  1. When you are stressed, cortisol begins to send signals to the brain.
  2. These signals trigger the need for comfort and pleasure like eating sugary foods, which can be as addictive as drugs.
  3. As cortisol increases so does the fat deposited around your middle.
