5 Steps to Restore Gut Health

digestive health

Gut health is the foundation of a healthy person. Without a healthy gut all of the other systems of the body – the immune system, the musculoskeletal system, the cardiovascular system and the skin – will not function to its fullest potential. Here are five steps to restoring optimal gut health which in turn will help support a healthy balance to the whole body.

  1. Optimize digestion
Digestive enzymes are specialized proteins that function as catalysts in almost all cellular functions and chemical reactions throughout the body. Enzymes play a critical role in growth, healing and reproduction. They are also necessary for breathing, thinking, immune function, hormone regulation, detoxification and thousands of other biochemical functions. Enzymes are also necessary for digesting food nutrients and converting nutrients to energy in cells.
  2. Maintain a healthy gastrointestinal environment
Having a healthy digestive system affects all facets of the body. When the condition of the digestive system is not in proper health, there can be a tremendous negative effect on every other function of the body. Keeping the digestive system in a healthy environment helps all other functions of the body to perform at their maximum potential. Using a safe and effective supplement can help improve microbial balance.
  3. Provide prebiotic and probiotic support
Your gastrointestinal (GI) tract is your body’s first line of defense against food-borne pathogens that can cause sickness and disease. Powerful acids in your stomach kill many of the harmful microorganisms such as bacteria and viruses entering through your stomach with food and other surface-borne pathogens coming in contact with your hands and then with your mouth. Beyond your stomach, your intestinal tract also performs very important immune functions in the body. A healthy intestinal tract is critical for optimal digestive function and immune protection. Support a healthy digestive tract and create an unfavorable environment for unhealthy bacteria, yeast and other harmful microorganisms using a probiotic supplement.
  4. Promote detoxification and elimination
The body’s filtering and waste management system is quite capable of managing a certain amount of exposure to toxic influencers. But in a modern world of environmental pollutions and harmful chemicals the body’s filtering system can be significantly challenged. Our bodies are exposed to numerous toxins and microbial pathogens in our daily lives. One of the primary functions of vital organs is to act as protective filters against such harmful agents. The body’s filtering and waste management system is quite capable of managing a certain amount of exposure to toxic influencers. Supporting healthy cleansing and filtering functions of these organs begins by limiting exposure to environmental toxins we breathe or touch and by eliminating foods that have artificial chemicals or that have been treated with pesticides and other harmful chemicals. Provide support to help healthy cleansing and filtering functions of the liver, kidneys, colon, lungs and skin with a detoxification complex.
  5. Realign the digestive system when temporarily out of balance
Occasionally we all have times when we are a little “out of balance” when we eat the wrong foods or have digestive issues. In order to aid in digestion and ease stomach discomfort in a natural way use a gentle digestive agent for soothing relief. Using a blend that can soothe stomach upset and ease indigestion while supporting healthy gastrointestinal function and aiding in digestion.

Lifelong health is very much dependent on digestive health. A properly functioning digestive system is not only essential for food nutrient absorption, but also performs critical immune and detoxification functions in the body. You can find all of the suggested supplements here.
