We’ve all heard the saying the only thing you have to do is die and everything else is a choice. We can’t choose our parents so we’re stuck with our the genes. Barring anything overtly genetic to hamper our health, we hold the keys to a longer, happier life. If we want to prolong our ability to choose, then these simple things hold the secrets to longevity.
- Laugh
Laughter reduces stress, helps improve your immune system and brings on feelings of well-being. Studies have shown that laughter releases endorphins and can help raise the pain threshold in some people. - Sleep
Although we have been lead to believe that everyone needs 8 hours of sleep, it really is a guideline. Just as your optimal nutrition plan is based on your biochemical individuality, so is your need for sleep. It’s quite possible, based on genetic factors, lifestyle and mood, you may require more hours for truly restorative sleep. Try to bring your body in-line with the natural rhythms of day and night – rising when it gets light and sleeping not too long after it gets dark. And in-between move your body with some regularity. - Nutrition
Eat when you are hungry; not too much, not too little. As Hippocrates said“If we could give every individual the right amount of nourishment and exercise, not too little and not too much, we would have found the safest way to health.”
If you need support in your health and nutrition, I am here to help you.
