I had promised to provide you with a video of my processes for storing tomatoes for year-round enjoyment. Well, tonight my husband and I took on the task. This is my first video blog. Wow, what an experience. My husband had to learn how to use the new camera we bought – because he just has to have the right “tools” for the job. It was fun but it was a learning experience. We should make a bloopers video someday and show you the out takes. It never fails that just when you think you’re on a roll, you forget something. You’ll see that in the video.
But I did want to tell you that if you season your sauce before canning with whatever you prefer, it will marinate over time and make the taste richer. One batch, which we did not film, thankfully, went horribly wrong. I cut up jalapeno peppers without gloves on and burnt the tips of my fingers. That wasn’t a fun day. Then the peppers went into the sauce. It was too late when I realized I had put in four (that’s right 4!) jalapenos on the tomato sauce. It’s a little on the spicy side.
